The Ford Escape and the Lincoln Corsair share the same DNA, making them placing them in the same auto segment. In 2020, both models got a facelift, giving them a fresh new look. While the new styling is quite attractive, it is not everything that these vehicles have to offer. Although both SUVs are similar in some ways, there are a handful of significant differences that can help shoppers decide which is best for their lifestyle.
Powertrains
When it comes to what is under the hood, the Escape comes with only one option of a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® engine producing 280 horsepower. On the other hand, the Corsair has two options: the 2.0-liter EcoBoost® similar to the one found in the Escape as well as a 2.5-liter EcoBoost® engine producing 295 horsepower.
Safety
On the safety front, there are a number of similarities. Both models are built on the same chassis and on the same production line. Each comes with a rear camera for reversing, and it's a standard feature for both cars.
Secondly, they both come with blind-spot indicators. The blind-spot indicator makes it easier for drivers to see other cars that could easily be in the blind spot to help prevent collisions while changing lanes. Thirdly both have lane-keeping systems to help drivers stay within their lane. Finally, they both have a forward sensing system; however, it doesn't give you a 360° view in the Escape, but in the Corsair, it does.
Optional Tow Package
The Escape comes with an optional tow package with a 1,500-pound capacity while there is no factory option for towing in the Corsair. So, if you are intending on towing anything, it's something you should keep in mind.
Interior Features
The Corsair and Escape feature a rear cargo space of similar size, but the difference comes when you try to lay your backseats flat for added cargo space. In the Corsair, you press and hold a button to power down the rear seats. In Escape, it's a manual control, where you lay your seats down from the rear passenger doors. You use a button on the headrest and a lever to drop the seats.
The Corsair interior includes more premium materials than does the Escape. The leather seats and a wide range of color choices for the interior make Corsair a much more luxurious space. The Corsair has rear heated seats, which are missing in the Escape. Also, the Corsair has a power-adjustable steering wheel, while in the Escape, it's manual. In essence, the Corsair is a luxurious relative of the Escape.
Exterior Design
Both the Escape and the Corsair share a similar exterior outline, but that doesn't mean they have the same exterior styling. The front grille of the Corsair has a striking chrome finish, making it look more luxurious. Both have LED low and high beam lights, and aerodynamic side mirrors.
Technology
Both SUVs come with a large touchscreen that allows you to access different features. The two models also come with similar systems for audio as well as phone calls. However, the Corsair's infotainment has more features and more interactive with extra features like cruise control.
